OICS — Optimal Integrated Combat System

Personal project : a modern reinterpretation of the OICW program.

Introducing OICS (Optimal Integrated Combat System)—a modern revival of the legendary 1990s weapon program, reimagined through the lens of near-future military technology.

The OICS is chambered in the 5.56mm HARC (Hyper-Accelerated Rifle Cartridge) and paired with a lightweight 35mm smart programmable semi-automatic grenade launcher, creating a dual-caliber weapon system designed to deliver exceptional versatility on the modern battlefield. Adopted as a U.S. military special support weapon in 2027, the platform bridges the gap between a conventional assault rifle and a precision support system.

Powered by an onboard mission computer and an intelligent Picatinny rail ecosystem, the OICS seamlessly integrates the rifle, grenade launcher, and LPVO smart optic into a unified fire-control network. Real-time ballistic calculations, programmable airburst fuze programming, weapon diagnostics, and target engagement data are displayed directly through the optic, enabling rapid and accurate engagements from close-quarters combat to extended-range engagements.

This project explores how the ambitious vision of the original OICW program could evolve into a practical, modular, and combat-ready weapon system by leveraging plausible near-future technologies while maintaining a grounded, military-industrial design philosophy.
